Gluten and dairy intolerances
Good morning here from the states!
11am here today. My question and comments involve the gluten and dairy intolerances and how to avoid the additional strain of reactive symptoms caused by them. I was taken off of these products about six weeks ago and have a substantially higher amount of energy and mental clarity. I was also put on Abilify at the same time. Do you believe it is the abilify creating these wonderful reactions of improved health or the foods omitted from my diet?

I am really pleased you have found something that has helped you. As you changed both diet and started Abilify at the same time it is impossible to say whether your improvement is due to cutting out gluten, cutting out diary or Abilify or a bit of everything. I have alerted my medical colleagues about Abilify as I am unable to answer on this.
If you do decide to continue on a diary free diet make sure that you are getting a good calcium intake which is important for bone health. Tell me more about your reactive symptoms and are you still getting them?

Thanks for the advice. I do take a calcium/vit D supplement. So we are covered there. And my bloodwork shows good yet. My psych NP may reduce my nortriptyline slowly down to nothing, keeping me on the abilify instead. I also take Cymbalta so we are working on that. I am having knee jerk acitivity in my left leg, mostly and sometimes my upper body. I also have developed extremely dry skin but use Cerave cream for mast cell issues on the skin and that helps the dryness too. My 20 year chronic sinusitis is nearly gone and the massive headaches and toothaches are gone. But I had to get four top molars pulled to eliminate pain and they were cracking into pieces. My mental clarity and sleep is improving hugely tho. I feel very blessed.

So glad to hear that so much is improving for you, even long-standing symptoms such as your sinusitis. Very heartening.
Just a final comment, about being on a gluten free diet. In the UK it is recommended for those with gut symptoms to be screened for coeliac disease, (by a blood test), before cutting out gluten. This is because if someone improves on a gluten free diet, understandably they may be unwilling to reintroduce it and eating gluten for several weeks before the blood test is essential to be able to diagnose or rule out coeliac disease properly.

Thanks so much for the gluten and celiac information as I was not familiar with it. I must tell you that I find it so inspiring for these sessions to be held in the U.K. I am not familiar with any such program in the U.S. so I will speak with a few folks here about this.
I hope there is not an issue if I share this site on my Wordpress blog, if it allows me to. Some sites are now not accepting URL's to be copied to other sites. Unfortunate in one way but understandable in another. Have a great day Sue. Thanks for your volunteer time to answer our questions.

I have swapped to using Spelt flour and am baking my bread now with this instead. I have to say that I have felt some improvement. To make it easy I put every ingredients and let my "mixer" do the work for me. The bread has a lovely bread taste, much different to the gluten free ones. This was recommended to me by a friend, and it suits me as I think I am "only" intolerant to gluten, and do not have the coeliac problem. I have also had an appointment very recently and was told that my bad dizzy spells/sickness/brain fog and so on might be caused by migraine. I was given a leaflet with all suggested triggers and I have found already some food that I have naturally avoided lately as I could link them to feeling awful.
I am very trying to eat healthy, hardly ever alcohol, not frying, very little chocolate, no fat which helps a lot; not only to stay in a healthy weight but also to reduce the symptoms to the level of being able to "live" with them.
I will now try to keep a diary of food triggers fro a while so I can give feedback to that specialist I am to see again in three month time.
I might be difficult to eat healthy sometimes but it is much worth it!
