The NICE evidence based guidelines acknowledge that some find taking supplements helpful and you can safely take a supplement containing no more 100% of the recommended daily amount of magnesium.
The recommended daily amount of magnesium for adults is 300mg a day.
The safe upper limit from the Food Standards Agency report (2003) is no more than 400mg/day. The Safe Upper limits were recommendation from an unbiased expert medical panel looking at 10,000 pieces of research internationally.
