Fibromyralgia / CFS

Hi,

I've gerard lots of positive information about GET and have found that in my local area there is only one place that provides it. They are willing to take me on, and my GP wants to refer me to them but unfortunately the GP says as they are not on their funding list they can not send me there but can refer me to a clinic which is 50 miles away!!!! As you can appreciate in my current state of health there is no way I could travel that distance to gain the therapy I need. Is there anything I could do- I can't afford to pay private!

I spoke to the care centre and they are more than willing to take on NHS patients and be registered but they don't know how one goes about becoming a service that can be funded by the NHS etc. Is there anything that can be done? This service really needs to be provided in our area.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Dear Saffy623

How frustrating! Really this is outside the scope of my knowledge, and different areas work in different ways, but I would use the NICE guidelines to show that this is an evidence-based treatment for your condition, and that travelling is likely to make you feel worse.

This link may also help:

You could also call the service and ask of they can provide telephone or home visiting service. Not all services do this, but this would save the number of times you have to travel.

If you need to find their number try this link:

Good luck!
