adrenalin surges & relapse

Since the onset of the illness 6years ago I have had problems with mood. Surges in energy & euphoria followed by exhaustion & depression. I assume due to fluctuations in energy & fatigue. Anxiety is also a problem. I use mindfulness techniques to try & relax & mood has improved considerably. I had been very well for several weeks but 2 weeks ago I became hyper & felt wired being unable to relax during rests for 4 days then I crashed & became extremely unwell. Is this due to surges in adrenalin & is it the likely cause of relapses? Also are there any treatments that may help?

Re: adrenalin surges & relapse

You are clearly having a number of quite marked symptoms relating to mental health and wellbeing that require specialist help.

So this is something that you need to discuss with your GP - because there are a number of psychological approaches that could be of help here.

If you google Access to Psychological Therapies this should give you a rough idea of the sort of approaches that could be discussed with your GP.

IAPT website: http://www.iapt.nhs.uk

There are also drugs that may be of help.

One of the other health professionals on this forum may be able go further with suggestions on how to proceed....

Re: adrenalin surges & relapse

Could the adrenalin surges be triggered by over doing it, boom & bust maybe?

Re: adrenalin surges & relapse

Yes, quite possible

A boom and bust approach to management is almost certainly going to have a very negative impact on the chances of improvement/recovery occurring
