Heart arrhythmia.

I have recently started to experience fluctuations in my heart rate for no apparent reason. One recent incident resulted in a heart rate of 200 B&M for approx 5 hours (bp of 70/40 approximate) requiring hospital assessment but no treatment. Is this a common occurrence with ME sufferers? Can you offer any advice or is it just something I have to live with?

Re: Heart arrhythmia.

John

We have already had quite a detailed discussion on the sort of heart rate and blood pressure problems that can be associated with ME/CFS - so rather than repeat all this info I suggest you have a look at the thread called:

ME and cardiac problems

What you are describing sounds as though it is rather different and is probably something quite separate to your ME/CFS

Whatever the explanation for this paroxysmal tachycardia you need to be properly assessed by referral to a hospital cardiologist (= heart specialist) - which I assume from what you say has now been done

It would be worth pointing out to whoever you see that abnormalities in cardiac function have been reported in the medical literature - because cardiologists don't tend to have much to do with ME/CFS and may not be aware of this information

Re: Heart arrhythmia.

Useful info on supraventricular tachycardias from NHS Choices:

I forgot to add:

I assume that you have also had a blood test to check thyroid function because an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) can cause palpitations and heart arrhythmias

Re: Heart arrhythmia.

Thank you , My thyroid function test are ok. vitamins D3 + D4 as well as B's seem fine. The only thing that appears to be wrong with my blood is my MCV is low at 79.5 fl which indicates microcytic anemia but my ferritin levels are fine. MCH is 27 just in.
Plasma viscosity is high at 1.79 mpa, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate is high for a man at 21mm/h.
I have had blood tests (privately) that ishowed abmonalaties with my red cell superoxide dismutase
functional test 39% Zn/Cu-SOD 225, Michondia numbers low, high clumping. Indication of Nickel complex and p-nonly phenoxy acid on TL sites.
It also indicated that my Total glutathione is 1.55 mmol/L. Calcium 1 atom/fibril (low) Magnesium 18 atom/fibril (low) and Nickel 4 atom/fibril (should not be present).

After reading the information you provided, I know I over do it at times and that is when I get the issues. Do you think over doing it would also cause me to virtually pass out at times?
