Soap

I bathe in bath E45 and only use a small amount of soap, under arms etc. Was advised years ago to use neutrogena unscented , but it has now been discontinued. Would appreciate advice on what soap is now recommended by dermatologists. I have Coeliac disease so cannot use aveeno as it has oats in it.

Re: Soap

Hi again Sparrowhawk,

Soap can strip away the skin's oils, thus damaging the skin's protective barrier and making an eczema attack more likely; I'd therefore suggest that you clean your body with E45 only. However, you may want to try a product that is recommended by the National Eczema Society called Dove® Pure & Sensitive; this is a mild non-soap, hydrating, emollient cleanser, that's recommended for face and body cleansing and is claimed to preserve the skin barrier. For more info go to http://www.eczema.org/about-eczemadove and http://www.eczema.org/dove-pure-and-sen ... artnership

Hope this helps you :)

Re: Soap

Hi thank you for your advice. I had a look at the soap mentioned and it does seem to have a lot of negative feedback when you look at the ratings, also the Eczema society seem to stae that they do not reccommend products.
Neutrogena was advised as it is pure soap that rinses off easily and I was really looking for one that would do the same.
