Coping with psoriasis blog
Hi all,
I'm new here. I've had psoriasis for over thirty years. During my teens and twenties it was extremely severe and I have struggled with many treatments, diets and miracle cures and now live with the worry of having way exceeded my lifetime dose of UVB (and lots of UVB administered back in the day when physiotherapists lowered a canopy over you using a rope!).
My reason for posting is that I am also a clinical psychologist working in the UK. I specialise in working with people with chronic illness and was no doubt drawn to this because of my own experience of living with psoriasis. I have started a blog (http://www.copingwithpsoriasis.com) where I plan to share some of the strategies I use in my clinical work and that also help me personally. This blog is not about finding a miracle cure but instead helping people cope and get on with their lives as best they can. I would love it if you had the time to visit and left some feedback.
I have also written a novel for older children in which the main character has psoriasis - Her Celtic Fire by Jo Jenkins (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Her-Celtic-Fir ... eltic+fire). If you are at all interested, it is free on kindle this weekend (24th and 25th April). My first novel (Girl Perfect) is also about living with visible differences and has had some lovely reviews.
With very best wishes,
Jo
