Rosacea - daily skincare
Hello,
I am 29 y.o.and I have been recently diagnosed with papulopustular rosacea and prescribed to use finacea gel. I have used it once a day for two months and it helped me a lot (to reduce redness and spots). Now I have stopped using it as my condition has improved.
Can you please recommend other daily skin care e.g. cleansers, moisturizes and make up? What ingredients do I need to look out for and what to avoid?
Many thank in advance for reply!

Re: Rosacea - daily skincare
I am not a medical professional but I do suffer from rosacea. I cannot use any proprietary brands of cleansers, even those devised for people with rosacea. The only product I can use is Borage and Calendula Balm. It can be used as a moisturiser and cleanser and is made by Kate Logan Beauty. She is a facialist and has a website and if you email and describe your skin condition she will advise you. I am not trying to advertise or 'push' this product. It may not suit you. Like most products it won't suit everybody. It took me months and months to find anything I could use so if this information is helpful to you, I'm glad to pass it on. Good luck.

Hi Katerynae,
Below are some skin care and make-up tips that I hope you will find beneficial:
1. Choose skin care products that contain natural, soothing, ingredients such as aloe vera, chamomile and cucumber.
2. Avoid products containing the following ingredients, as they may exacerbate your rosacea: alcohol, acetone, clove oil, menthol, peppermint oil, witch hazel; avoid sunscreens containing chemicals like benzophenones and methoxycinnamates; instead choose a mineral-based sun cream - these form a barrier that reflects sunlight and usually contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
3. Avoid using face scrubs.
4. You can buy a range of skin care products especially formulated for rosacea sufferers using natural ingredients such as rosehip oil and calendula extract here: http://www.acne-rosacea.co.uk
The range includes a mild cleanser, a redness-reducing day cream, a sun cream, a night cream and a foundation. Liz Earle's range of skin care products are also gentle enough for most rosacea sufferers:

5. Always carry out a patch test when using a product for the first time
6. Choose mineral-based cosmetics, as these are less likely to irritate the skin and can actually calm and soothe the skin. Well-known ranges include Bare Minerals: http://www.bareminerals.co.uk, Lily Lolo: http://www.lilylolo.co.uk and Jane Iredale: http://www.mineralbeauty.co.uk . Also, most high street brands now include mineral-based products.
Best wishes,
Wendy
