incontinence relief by Ciallis

following Radiotherapy treament 8 years ago my incontinence has deteriorated such that I am contemplating surgery. I have in the last 6 months started Hormone Treatment following rising PSA.
I note an article in the latest Prostate Matters (Federation Newsletter) that a person with similar circumstances to me found that a daily dose of Ciallis considerably improved his urinary performence. Is this common and should I suggest this treatment to my Urologist as an alternative to TURPS?

Cialis isn't widely recognized as a medication to treat / improve symptoms of incontinence - although there are reports of coincidental improvements in urinary symptoms. You could certainly discuss your options with your urologist.
Your symptoms may well be as a result of ongoing damage to the tissues caused by the radiotherapy treatment that you had 8 years ago. It would be worth asking to be reviewed by your local continence advisory service as you may find that bladder retraining and pelvic floor exercises help to improve your continence.

Cialis (tadalafil) has recently been licensed for treating urinary symptoms due to BPH - benign enlargement of the prostate - it is prescribed as a daily dose of 5mg - clearly an option for men with BPH who also have erectile dysfunction - and the 2 conditions are strongly linked.
However, it is not licensed for treating overactive bladder or post radiotherapy incontinence - however, given the paragraph above, it is perhaps not surprising that some men see an improvement in these symptoms when taking cialis.
Where you go from here depends on your type of incontinence but likely to be stress leakage following your treatment - if that is the cause there are some newer treatments such as 'male slings' that might be a less invasive option for you....
