Ovarian fibroma

Ovarian fibroma
I've just had a hysterectomy, ovaries, tubes, uterus, cervix and omentum after a tumour of around 8cms was found on my left ovary. My consultant has said she believes it to be a fibroma, but cannot be certain until it's been to pathology. I'm waiting for a follow up appointment.
Information on ovarian fibromas is scant. Why do they grow? How fast growing are they? Do they come back? Are they ever malignant? Thanks.

Re: Ovarian fibroma
They grow by chance, are rarely malignant, and mostly don't come back. Your histology result should be back within a couple of weeks of your operation.
