painful intercourse

I am 52 started the menopause about a year ago , for the past few months i have been having very bad pain during sex and the pain lingers for a few days after . i went to the doctors a couple of months ago he couldn't find anything wrong , but when i check myself i can feel very small lumps about 1 inch into my vagina
any advise please.

It is difficult to say what the lumps are without examining them directly and they may or may not have something to do with the pain. As the vaginal lining gets thinner at menopause sex can become painful. If your GP cannot help you might consider going to your local integrated sexual health clinic. They will be very used both to looking at vaginas and dealing with painful intercourse and may be able to offer you some answers.
