Encopresis

My daughter has encropresis. She regularly soils herself but does not get the feeling and we have tried everything. As we are having a really bad day with her in respect of her soiling i have been online looking through forums for any advice, i have done this a million times to be honest but one post has caught my eye. A gentleman has posted that he purchased a book online in America called Soiling Solutions the Clean Kid Manual. He claimed that in following this his child had stopped soiling for 2 weeks. Does anyone have any advice regarding this condition and/or the solution?

Re: Encopresis

Encopresis is a difficult problem to deal with. Has your daughter always had it or has it come on recently? Is there any reason for it? Has she been upset about anything? There could be several possible causes; some physiological, and some psychological reated to retention of stool. It is difficult to deal with this by yourself. You should ask your GP about a specialist paediatric centre in your area. I do not know the book, but I would try to get to see somebody fairly soon before going down that route, though it might be very good.

Re: Encopresis

We have seen a specialist. She is 8 now and started this at potty training. I think she was not ready to come out of nappys when we started training her. She also pushed a large stool once and it hurt her so it could be down to that that she started holding. She has the odd good period but then goes back. We just have to sit her on the toilet all day which is trying and most of the day she just has accidents. Its really bad for her when we go anywhere because we are either in the toilet trying or she has already done it. The guide is purchase only so i just wanted to check before we proceed if anybody had heard of it and if it had any advice in it different to what we are being told now. Thanks for your reply.
