Patient not recovering
Hi,
My other half was taken into hospital in the early hours of Wednesday 2 June with bad pains around her abdominal area. After a few blood tests and scan the doctors thought there was signs of appendicitis and it was decided that her appendix should be taken out. The day after the operation she was allowed back home with medication where she was improving for a few days before taken a turn for the worse and back to hospital. This time the blood & urine tests showed Ecoli in the urine and she had septicaemia. She was in for 4 nights then released with no answer to how long she would take to recover. She now has finished her course of anti biotics and the local GP says she should be ok in a few days but she is sore again in the same are she was right at the start of the problem!
Start to think that perhaps she never had appendicitis, she may have caught the ecoli and septicaemia in hospital but then again perhaps that was the problem at the start.
Can we have some advice? Is this going to be a 3rd visit & should we not be seeing signs of recovery?
Thanks
Euan

How worrying for you both. The important thing is not so much whether she might have had appendicitis, but what is going on now? The urinary infection should have cleared. You are best dealing with this through your GP. Ask him to screen for any lingering infection or inflammation.
