IBS Symptoms
Hi,
I was diagnosed with IBS several years ago. In the past year or so, I have noticed that my symptoms have worsened; whilst I am aware of "trigger foods" that cause constipation (e.g. white bread, pastry) I seem to be experiencing more frequent bouts of diarrhoea and am unable to identify a trigger.
I recently had some blood tests done through my GP as I have experienced a little weight loss; the tests included gluten intolerance, and all results have been negative.
My GP is able and willing to provide me with prescriptions for medication to treat the symptoms I am experiencing, but I am keen to try and identify root causes instead. Is it worth going down the route of allergy testing? Alternatively, is there anything else that I can be doing to help myself? Thank you.

No. I don't think allergy testing is going to help as allergy is a rare cause of IBS. Food intolerance is more common. In particular just check whether reducing your intake of milk or stone fruits help. Look up food intolerance on the IBS Self Care Plan (http://www.theibsnetwork.org/the-self-c ... erant-gut/) . There are two major triggers for IBS; Food and Mood. Stress, overwork, frustration, worry can all go to your bowels. Is there anything going on? Can you take time out to relax and talk.
