Pilonidal sinus
Hi,
I had a pilonidal sinus surgically drained nearly 10 years ago, it was a fairly deep abscess that 6 months of packing to heal. Over the past couple of months a small hole has developed where the scar is and it occasionally bleeds but no associated pain. More recently however, it has started to cause a lot of pain and it is bleeding more and there is now pus present. I'm not sure what to do about this, antibiotics have not worked. Is this a common problem with these types of scars and does it mean I will need further surgery?
Kind regards

Re: Pilonidal sinus
I am afraid it does sound that you have a recurrence of the abscess. It is better dealt with while small so get it checked as soon as possible. If there is swelling and pain then you may need to attend an A&E department more urgently.
