Omeprazole- and oesophageal cancer
I suffer severe acid reflux due to the medications I take. I have been on Omeprazole for 15 years now. I have tried to get off it but the acid reflux is horrid to live with. My question is, How safe is it to take Omeprazole long term? I have heard it might lead to oesophageal cancer? Is this correct? Thanks
I'm down to 20mg at night

Re: Omeprazole- and oesophageal cancer
doctors could write essays about the theorectical risks of taking these drugs long term but to be honest with you if they sort out your reflux I would say take them. I am not aware of any evidence that suggests they can lead to oesophageal cancer and I would never say that so in that specific regard I believe they are safe
