Link between allergies & a weakened immune system

My son is 4 and has allergies to nut, eggs, wheat and soya.
I was just wondering if there is any link to allergies and a weakened immune system?
He is always ill and will not go 2/3 weeks at a time without catching some kind off bug esp high fevers. A common sickness bug will take him twice as long to recover from.

i do seem to see and increase in viral infections amongst allergic kids and this may be due to immaturity of the immune system but there is no increase of nasty infections (eg meningitis, pneumonia etc) so really all you can do is ride this out (as long as he is recovering well between them) and remember that the more viral infections they get when they are younger, the less they get when as they grow up!!
