Re: Osteoarthritis and dieting
Hi Pamela,
Losing weight would definitely help your osteoarthritis.
If you fill up on lots of slow energy-release foods such as fish, chicken, lean meat and low fat natural yogurt, whole grains, fruit and vegetables, you should feel fuller for longer.
You could still lose weight while eating your Asian diet if you make a few tweaks. For example, bake steam and microwave foods rather than frying and add extra vegetables to curry dishes. Choose whole wheat roti or chapati rather than white. Cut back on saturated fats - including ghee and butter. Avoid eating a lot of deep-fried foods like bhajis, pakoras and samosas; tandoori or tikka dishes are low in fat and calories. Avoid creamy curry sauces such as korma or passanda - choose balti, madras, or rogan josh dishes instead. Cut right down on refined, sugary foods such as biscuits, sweets and cakes and sweet Indian desserts such as kulfi.
To give you some ideas on how to tweak your usual dishes follow the links below to some healthy Asian recipes:

I hope this helps you. Good luck
