Delayed milk and soya allergies in infant

Hello
My daughter has a delayed dairy and soya allergy and we are yet to introduce eggs. She is 11 months old. I'm breastfeeding and she takes Neocate at night. I have just reintroduced soya but had to stop giving it to her as her symptoms returned (pain and waking multiple times during the eve and night ). When should I challenge milk and would I introduce it to my diet first or directly challenge her ?
Thank you

Re: Delayed milk and soya allergies in infant

Dear Mrs Scptree,

As your daughter’s allergies are delayed or non IgE mediated the only test is re-introduction and monitoring. Typically we would retry dairy after a year of age. In the first instance I would put dairy into your diet as she will get exposures to small amounts of milk protein via your breast milk. If no symptoms occur then I would suggest you place your daughter milk ladder. You can access this on:
http://cowsmilkallergyguidelines.co.uk/ ... lk-ladder/
This begins with baked milk and then you progress up the milk ladder as tolerated.

Unless she has had an allergic reaction to egg in the past I would suggest you can introduce this. Again you might start with egg in its baked form as egg is less allergenic when baked as the proteins denature with the heat. If tolerated you can progress to loosely cooked egg for example scrambled egg, pancakes, yorkshire pudding ect.

Hope this helps,

Ruth
