vaginal mucous

Over the last 15 years I've had a variety of problems, which have evolved.

What was vulvovaginitis (painful vestibule during intercourse) became constant swelling around the vagina including labia majora and has in the last few years become swelling with arousal or sexual contact but only really in the 2nd half of the cycle. This is accompanied by a white discharge which tastes extremely sour.

The swelling I can deal with but the taste is embarrassing and really affects my confidence and sex life. Any ideas at all? Is there any link between dairy and mucous for instance? Should I consider bio-identical hormone therapy? I would really appreciate ANY feedback.

Thank you.

Re: vaginal mucous

Possible causes include types of candidiasis or bacterial factors.
I would recommend a thorough microbiology assessment with swabs and treatment based on results and sensitivities.
