This may be secondary to vaginal dryness and irritation.
Low oestrogen levels are commonly the cause of low genital tract atrophy.
Of course excluding a urinary tract infection, thrush or other vaginal infection first is recommended.
If all microbiology tests are negative, and there is no contraindication, topical oestrogens may help in postmenopausal women.

Certainly worth trying vaginal estrogen. This needs to be prescribed and is available in the form of cream, small vaginal tablets on an applicator or a vaginal ring. Very effective at reversing the vaginal and bladder changes which occur as a result of low estrogen levels. Vaginal estrogen needs to be used for 3 to 6 months initially to appreciate the benefit but should then be continued at the maintenance dose long term.
