Dear Jean,

Thank you for your post, clearly the starting point with a difficult scenario such as yours is to take a full history to include aggravating and relieving factors.

Pains in the chest can have many causes from cardiac problems, which thankfully seem to have been excluded, to chest infections, arthritis, pulled muscles and previous trauma.

As I said a history would need to be taken and various investigations to systematically exclude a medical condition.

Hello Jean, do make sure that you have had your chest and heart examined fully. If you are still having problems then you must go back and see your GP. If you are a smoker, then definitely stop.

Chest pain is always important to get checked out fully. Dr Webberley
