Re: I'm so breathless

Hi Christina,

Thank you for your post. I am sure that you can understand that I would need to ask you many more questions;
Some of these questions would be
Around pollutants in your life, I.e smoking, occupations, damp in the home, any drugs you are currently taking especially for the management of your HIV.
Whether you have any conditions which would impact your chest such as allergies and gastric reflux.
What sort of investigations you have have recently.
Whether you are breathless at rest or just on exertion, whether there is a cough or wheeze.
Whether you are overweight.
Whether you have any other family members who have chest problems diagnosed at an early age.
Ultimately though, if the answers to these questions do not shed light on your condition you may well need assessment by a respiratory consultant.

Best wishes

Vicky

Re: I'm so breathless

Dear Christina, sorry to hear that you ar struggling so much with your breathing. With modern treatment, anyone with asthma should be able to lead as normal a life as possible. Go back to your asthma nurse and ask her to do your spirometry again, check your inhaler technique and make sure everything is optimal. When was the last time you had a chest x-ray? Have you asked your HIV consultant about this?

Don't suffer in silence, get it checked out!

Re: I'm so breathless

I am so sorry that your symptoms are so severe and I agree that it would be very reasonable to refer you to a respiratory consultant for further assessment of your airways disease as this does not sound typical for straight forward asthma.
