Re: Acne Treatments Making Skin Worse

Actually kind of want to agree with this because some of the product that I use for my acne doesn't actually work on my face. Just the same or my face will get even worse and I don't know why.

Hi all,

Acne is a real nuisance but I enjoy treating it since we have effective medicines to settle most forms. There isn't a one-size fits all medicine (otherwise I'd be out of a job!). Picking the right medicine involves a detailed discussion between you, your GP and if needed a dermatologist.

The most powerful medicine to settle acne is called Roaccutane but can only be prescribed by a consultant dermatologist due to side effects.

Best wishes,

Re: Acne Treatments Making Skin Worse

I'm sorry to hear about your meet with acne.

I don't know if you have moderate acne or severe acne on your face.

If you have severe acne, the use of benzoyl peroxide and Differin is no longer helpful and you need to see a dermatologist for a face-to-face consultation, who will prescribe you oral medication for acne.

If you only have moderate acne that you haven't cured for a long time it's best to also see a dermatologist for a face-to-face visit, perhaps with not only topical medications but possibly oral antibiotics.

I don't know if you have acne in the same area that went away and then soon after it came back. Then you need to repair the skin barrier when using medication for acne, only when the skin barrier is repaired will the eliminated acne not recur in the same area.
Help you get rid of acne.

Acne treatment every few days may seem useful, but that approach can worsen acne. Acne treatment needs time to work. Using a different product every few days can also irritate your skin, causing new breakouts. If a treatment works for you, you should notice some improvement in 4 to 6 weeks

Your skin is sensitive to those ingredients, which could cause a reaction. “What is common is irritation to retinoids, which can cause what is called retinoid dermatitis – a red, dry, peeling rash that can develop in areas treated with retinoid

Best Answer:
I use to have that when I was teenager.
Mom took me to skin specialist in nearby hospital. They took blood and ran blood sample into computer .
The cause is not the medications or skin creams as once thought by the many.
Acne - is bacteria in the blood stream.
Drink olive leaf tea
Cut down on junk food
Try to not drink city water full of bacteria .
Cows milk in grocery stores has bacteria in them gallons bottles .
If you can eliminate these it will clear up.

Most people move out cities to country area so can drink fresh well water- instead. Because city water tainted .

I started sticking to a simple soap to cleanse my skin. This one brand which I don't think I'm allowed to say is probably the best soap I've tried. It initially dried out my spots and I thought it was making it worse but then over a few weeks I noticed a difference in my skin. It just started with the redness fading, then the spots started to fade aswell. They do two soaps I think for problem skin. I went with the essential oil one that does a bit of everything. Maybe going simple with skin cleaning could help you? It might not be the magic solution but for me it improved it enough for me not to feel as self conscious.
That's good that this has worked for you. I used soap on my skin years ago and it just blocked my pores. I haven't used it for about 35 years and my skin has improved. I can't even use Dove soap on my face. I now use a salycylic acid face wash and that seems to stop the odd spot that I now get.
I also have to be careful with essential oils as they seem to block my pores but I swear by lavender oil when I get a spot now. It reduces the inflammation quickly and is great for burns too!

Re: Acne Treatments Making Skin Worse

I wash my face with a gentle soap each night and have no problems with blocked pores or spots. I won't say what soap I use, but it's really good.

BUT soap does not work for everyone: everyone has different skin and one-size does not fit all. I'd say if you're going to give soap a go, use a very mild, non perfumed soap. Basically a non-fancy one. If you find you're getting spots and your skin starts becoming unhappy, stop using it straight away and find a facial wash - or even cleansing cream - that does work. Again, everyone's skin is different, so go with what suits YOU: not someone else.
