First off can I say I ENVY people with good skin. anyway I have been using adapalene for 8 weeks now, and my skin is PURGING this is the worst it has been since 9th grade. I am now a college freshman and am ready to kick my acne in the butt once and for all. I got discouraged this week with my skin and how red and irritated my acne is. I understand this is purging, but I got frustrated and stopped using the product for three days. I am going to get back on it tonight and continue until week 12 and reevaluate, which is where I have read that changes should for sure be happening. Will those three days set me back majorly in my process?

Hi asmariotte,

Sorry to hear about your frustration with your acne symptoms. Could your skin be having an adverse reaction to the Adapalen? Everyone reacts differently to different products. Perhaps you may want to confirm with your Doctor if you are having a reaction?

You may also want to consider re-balancing your gut with pro-biotics to help your acne. Please check out our client's website relating to this:

We also have a free acne support programme that you can sign up to. Please find info here:

Using adapalene for 8 weeks will make the skin worse. What you should do is to stop using adapalene and switch to other treatments. Such as the use of antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, and even isotretinoin.

Adapalene is in a class of prescriptions called retinoid-like mixtures. It works by preventing pimples from framing underneath the skin.
