acne struggle

Hey guys,
I’ve been struggling w acne the past 3 years.I’m 18 and I rlly want to have a clear skin in college.I’ve tried many treatments with antibiotics (doxycycline, mynocycline etc),topical gels and creams.
However since I’m training in a high level it’s very hard to take such medications.A doctor now prescribed me azithromycin.

However from my google search I found alternative therapies with blue light, laser etc.Nobody has suggested this to me before.
Has anyone experience on alternative treatments for acne or only medication works?
Thnks x

Hi vassilia27,

Thank you for your post. There are certainly many alternative treatments that will be able to help with acne. We cannot comment on blue light or laser therapies, but you may want to start looking at your microbiome and how our gut affects our skin and acne. Please find some info here about it from one of our clients:

Hopefully other members may be able to share what has helped them.

Kind regards

Re: acne struggle

Just remember: junk food doesn't necessarily cause acne. Acne is also not caused by dirty skin. It is a genetic skin condition. NEVER wash your face with harsh chemicals. Never have a face peel. Peeling layers from your skin won't control acne. Plus, it is rather a gruesome proceedure.

Use gentle products on your face. Don't strip your skin of natural oils, either. Use gentle acne treatments and just respect your skin. Also don't worry about eating junk food: that doesn't cause acne. A rather controversial opinion, but one I believe to be true. Also know you're not to blame for having acne. Again, acne is genetic. It can be treated, but not with products and chemicals similar to steel wool. Gentle is the way.

I agree with misscandygirl. When I think back to how I used to treat my skin !!! Soap, harsh scrubs, cleansing brushes, sun lamps!! Please be kind to your skin. It's already inflamed so gentle is the way to go.
Just use gentle cleansers. Salycylic acid is very good for acne prone skin too. Try and be patient and give your skin chance to get used to one product at a time. I know how hard it is when you want to clear your skin so much and asap. There's a lot of good advice on this website.

Re: acne struggle

The best way to eliminate acne is to encourage leaving the pimple alone for a week and apply an acne cream that contains two to five percent benzoyl peroxide. Moisturize regularly. Some over-the-counter treatments your teen may be using for acne management could be drying out their skin.

Re: acne struggle

I don't know what your acne type is. According to your description, there are mostly pustules, but a few nodules?
Azithromycin and minocycline are both oral antibiotics. If minocycline is useless, the therapeutic effect of azithromycin is not great.
Another factor is the duration of oral antibiotics. It takes at least 6-8 weeks for antibiotics to have an effect. I don't know if you have eaten for enough time.
If the acne has not disappeared after taking antibiotics for 2 months, you can consult your doctor if you can take isotretinoin. If the doctor does not give further treatment, you can try another dermatologist?
Besides, red and blue light are antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, blue light is anti-inflammatory, and red light stimulates skin regeneration. Red and blue light are suitable for treating mild and moderate acne, such as papules and pustules. Red and blue light has to be irradiated 5-10 times to gradually take effect, and the effect of using only once or twice is very slight.
Help you get rid of acne.

The four factors that straightforwardly add to skin inflammation are: overabundance oil creation, pores becoming obstructed by "tacky" skin cells, microbes, and irritation. diet, which can impact aggravation all through the body
