Has anyone had an issue with emollients making eczema worse?
I have had severe chronic dishydrotic eczema on hands and feet for 4 years. There are times I cannot walk and starting to have some real nerve damage. I was on topical steroids for 2 years, no help. I had steroid injections in hands/feet, no help. What I have found is that anytime my feet get moist - even a little moist, the eczema is worse - itching like crazy, but also severe burning sensation. I have tried at least 75 different lotions, creams and ointments. The only thing that gives me any relief is ice packs. Has anyone had this issue where they can't put anything on their eczema without it aggravating it?
When I say aggravate, it is like my feet are screaming - get this off of me.

I've interviewed a dermatologist, asking a similar question on applying lotion on sensitive skin areas, and the reply:
Dr. Verallo-Rowell: Yes with the virgin coconut oil. I have seen extremely irritated skin, however, where even water makes them sting. In these cases, I prescribe the total removal of all products with just a bit of the VCO applied very lightly and gingerly, section by section — which I’ve found to be soothing until the oil can be applied all over. Once less sensitive, soaking in it can be done.

Also, more on coconut oil and the different types http://eczemablues.com/2012/03/sensitiv ... conut-oil/
Hope above helps, consider patch test too, and take care,
Mei
