Bedwetting in a 10 year old

Hi there, first of all, your poor son - it is an awful thing - but actually far more common than you think. Children and their parents hardly ever tell anyone about it so they think they are the only ones, but actually it is very common.

The good news is that he will certainly grown out of it one day, just when???

If he feels that pull-ups would be right for him, then why not go with that? it is a brave and grown up decision to make, and maybe better than the fear of wetting in front of his friends?

There are also tablets that he could take, either long term or even just to cover his trip. You could try them out at home first to see how well they work, before trusting them while he is away.

Most areas have an NHS 'continence nurse' that you can self-refer to and who can give you support and advice if your GP is not sure what to do. You can even go and discuss it with your GP without your son in the first place if he is too embarrassed.

I would echo Dr Helen's advice and access your local nurse specialist, they can speak with you and your son about management of the issue and find a plan that suits his needs. Your GP surgery should be able to advise who is in your area, most will accept self referrals but some will require a GP referral.

Just an additional thing to check with your son, to add to the excellent advice posted so far.
Does he drink much fluid before he goes to bed, or late in the evening? It may be worth looking at this, and reducing fluids a couple of hours before bedtime, along with cutting back/avoiding fizzy drinks, colas etc all together.
Just a small issue, but incase no one has told you I thought I'd mention.
