Hi,
My girlfriend has had this skin infection for months now, doctors have given her antibiotics to clear it up which haven't helped at all, if anything it's getting worse, I'm not sure they even know what it is!!! They've given here two courses of pills which haven't helped at all... Her scalp is also dry which is really getting her down.

Just wondered if anyone had had this condition and know what it is and what they did to clear it up?

Thanks

Hi Seaspray99

Thank you for your post. Sorry to hear about your girlfriend's condition. The pictures do make it look painful. Hopefully some of our members may be able to give you some helpful advice. We would always recommend, however, that you do keep going back to your GP. Have you tried a pharmacist to see if they can prescribe something over the counter?

Please let us know how your girlfriend gets on.

Kind regards

You could try a topical antifungal +/- steroid such as Daktacort, canestan (or canestan HC) especially for the areas under the skin folds - it's from the pharmacy in most places

Agree - it can be difficult to figure out if it's strictly just eczema, or eczema + bacterial/ eczema + fungal. Do watch out for the potency and frequency of duration of use for steroids, but otherwise, may be worth considering switching treatment cream. Also, cleaning the skin with anti-microbial agent may help, like anti-microbial cleanser but be sure to moisturize right after as it's drying to the skin.

Take care, and hope all get better soon!
