Cysts on testicles

I have had cysts on my testicles for some ten years now, these along with prostate problems such as dribbling when urinating, not feeling empty, smell from the penis, The dull ache sitting on an orange. Over the years and most recently I have had numerous courses of penicillin, the last this year of a 16 week duration. The cysts on my testes, more so my left one become painful to touch and give out that same dull ache that is prevailent with prostate problems. And more worryingly when I am lying down, sitting is a pain, I have found that using an ibruprofen gel on the testes helps to relieve the aching. I have noticed that with some of my medications that there is a marked decrease in libido as well as an increase in my problems. I currently have prescribed Lyrica along with opiate patched-matrifen as well as lanzoprazole/omeprazole, loratadine, loperamide and ibruprofen gel and analgesic cream. I am not currently taking any lyrica or have the matrifen patch on due to colds/flu etc raising my temperature to a high. I am taking Alfuzosin at present and am not taking any other apart from loratadine for allergies. Any advice, I am in constant contact with my GP, and the Alfuzosin was prescribed 2 weeks ago. Any advice would be welcome, Regards

Re: Cysts on testicles

You can have cysts on the pipework around the testicle (epididymis) and also on the skin around the testicles (scrotum) and these are very common and usually do not cause any problems apart from some discomfort. Any lumps on the actual testicle need to be looked at and checked by a doctor.

The ones on the scrotum can get inflamed and infected (like spots on the face and neck can) and cause more pain.

The prostate problem is very hard to solve, and many men end up with lots of antibiotics which never quite seem to solve the problem - I welcome the urology specialist opinion here?

Medication can be a real nuisance for men and women, affecting sexual performance and libido, and we always have to weigh up the side effects of any medication with the benefits it gives.

Re: Cysts on testicles

It sounds like you should see a urologist about your urinary symptoms
I would want to know how big your prostate was and what it felt like and whether tender.
Also would want you to do a flow rate and measure the urine left in the bladder
Hopefully the alfuzosin will help but you might need a prostate shrinking tablet as well or instead.
it may be you are not emptying your bladder leading to the infections and other symptoms
Might eventually lead to a plumbing operation to help you empty better called a TURP

Re: Cysts on testicles

I have to agree strongly with the previous recommendations about seeing a urologist about your urinary symptoms. However you have mentioned that you are dribbling, experiencing discomfort and a smell around your penis. Personal hygiene in this area is really important and you may need to be very careful what soaps and other cleansing products you use, simple warm water is the best really. Washing the area too much can also cause further problems as it increases the production of a substance called smegma. This is a natural lubricant of the penis.

I am unsure if you have considered wearing any products or protection that may help contain the dribbling and promote comfort in the area. There are lots of disposable pad products available to buy. There is also washable containment underwear on the market that can help in circumstances where there is just light dribble. Many of them are made of almost 100% cotton to minimise any irritation to your skin.

I really hope this is useful, best of luck.
