I need help with facial flushing.

First, some info. I'm a 56 year old male and have had to deal with facial flushing practically all my life. I have major flushing on my cheeks with a very hot burning sensation. After so many years with it, I've figured out a few things. It starts around 12:30 every afternoon. Slowly it will peak and then subside. Around 6 in the evening, it will start up again. I normally have it from around October through April. Last year, I didn't have it and thought that it was over with, but this year its back. I personally feel it has to do with allergies, but I've taken many allergy medicines without success. At home, I cope by using a spray bottle and mist my face with water. I put powdered make-up on when it's really flaring up if I go out.
Someone, somewhere, has an answer for this. Please advise. Thanks!

Hey there,

What sort of skin complaints did you have which responded to treatment?

Re: I need help with facial flushing.

I have solved facial flushing problems applying pure chimp super cleanser.
It's 100% natural and hand made.
And it gently removes away dirt & impurities from your skin which may cause any inflammations.

Information about rosacea & help with facial flushing

There's some great information on the talkwomenshealth hub about what happens in rosacea, particularly with regard to facial flushing. There are also some photographs which may help you in terms of identifying the type of rosacea you may have.

There are also healthcare professionals that can help

The sooner you start treatment for rosacea the better. There's no need to wait until your symptoms get to the point where you can't cope with them. Doctors and specialist nurses will be able to give you:

A definite diagnosis of rosacea

Help and advice on managing particular symptoms

Advice on the right treatment for you (a prescription or specialist treatment to help you control your symptoms)

Advice on dealing with side effects of any medication you might use. You might be using remedies that are not effective against rosacea, or even making it worse.

You can visit your GP or alternatively, you may wish to seek advice and treatment from private specialist centers or online consultation services such as the Ashfield Healthcare Limited Rosacea Online Clinic (http://galderma.eprs-online.net/). This clinic offers a 20-30 minute consultation to discuss you rosacea with an independent nurse prescriber over Webnex (a system similar to Skype).

Re: I need help with facial flushing.

Firstly have you asked your go about this? They may be able to sort the problem out easily. Otherwise if you are looking to camouflage the redness you could try an anti-redness moisturiser and pop to a make-up counter for advice on how to use make-up to hide the redness better, often make-up counters offer free make-up advice in the hope they will sell you a product.. Or two.. Or three. Hope that helps

Re: I need help with facial flushing.

Rosacea has different causes. Avoid hot and spicy food and beverages. Also, avoid extreme exposure to sunlight. Lastly, avoid stress. Unfortunately, there is no permanent cure for rocasea especially if this condition runs in the family. Visit your dermatologist and ask for antibiotics. This will somehow lessen the inflammation.

So sorry to hear that you're dealing with flare-ups, too. I've been dealing with rosacea for 15+ years, so I feel your pain.

It sounds like you're tracking it very closely. Patterns like the ones you've identified are very important.

It sounds like it's happening right around meal time for you. Do you eat meals or drink coffee/tea right before the times you always get your flushes? I find that my cheeks fire up a little bit after I've eaten a meal, especially if it contains a trigger food of if it's a hot meal (the heat/steam can promote flare-ups in rosacea-prone skin).

Alternately, could it be that you're exposed to another trigger like the sun, right before the flushing starts? There could be something that is causing these flare-ups to occur. What is it that you're typically doing right before the times of your flushes? Maybe there's something you can identify so that you can make some easy changes and prevent them.

I hope these ideas help!
