Research shows rosacea causes emotional harm

The National Rosacea Society recently published the results of a survey they conducted with the participation of 1,675 patients who have this skin condition.

It showed that 90 percent felt that the impact rosacea had on their personal appearance had hurt their self-confidence and self-esteem. Another 88 percent said they had felt embarrassed because of their rosacea symptoms.

There were a range of other emotions that were felt as a result of rosacea, including anger, frustration and anxiety as well as isolation and feeling the need to avoid social interaction until the symptoms cleared.

The study results were published on the organization's official website:

While this study does make me feel better in knowing that I'm not alone in what I'm feeling about my symptoms, at the same time I feel it's heartbreaking to know that there are millions of us who are suffering in this way.

Re: Research shows rosacea causes emotional harm

Thank you Julie, it is really sad there are so many people suffering. Hopefully the support of the rosacea community helps with sharing tips in how to manage the wide ranging symptoms- both physical and emotional.

Thank you for sharing and reaching out.
