I am sorry to hear you are having a difficult time with your skin. It is really hard to help you with advice and support without knowing your diagnosis. Has your GP told you what your skin condition is? What treatments have been prescribed? Please do post a new reply and we will try to help you.

Hi, I am wondering if this is Keratosis pilaris, I've had it all my life - the little spots have hard lumps under the skin which normal exfoliating scrubs don't touch. I think this is what I have this on the backs of my arms & shoulders - it always seems to get worse in the Summer & is a nuisance because it makes me too self-conscious to wear sleeveless clothes. I've recently been trying a product called Ameliorate which is a Lactic Acid/Urea-based moisturiser, it seems to be working slowly but smells horrible so puts me off using it as much as you are supposed to, twice a day. Any suggestions gratefully received!

Hello Batgirl,

yes keratosis pilaris is very common. Urea based moisturisers can be helpful. Retinoid based topicals (e.g. adapalene gel) can also be helpful. It might be worth asking your GP or seeing a dermatologist. You can also read more about KP and available treatments on website www.alexandroff.org.uk

I hope this might be of help.

Dear Krakowska,

I am so sorry to hear about your skin problem. It can be difficult to photograph skin conditions and it is more difficult to make a diagnosis on photographs comparing to seeing a patient in person, but I still wonder if you might like to upload your images. Of course you have to understand that anybody could see your images and any advice given.

I hope this might be of help.

with very best wishes,
