Benign Essential Tremor

Hand tremors can be really debilitating, making it difficult to hold a full glass or cup in one hand without spilling its contents, or finding that forks don't always get a smooth passage to the mouth! It's embarrassing to say the least, and has curtailed my social life a great deal.

My GP is unable to help, although I take a beta blocker every day - whether this helps or not I'm not quite sure, as my tremors, especially in my left hand are getting worse. I've probably had essential tremor for about 15 years, first noticed when my hand started having difficulty moving the mouse to place the cursor at the right spot on the computer screen.

I was wondering if anyone has experience of this and how they are managing to cope. I often think that an electrode placed somewhere in the brain might stop the tremors, but can't find any health provider who offers this.

Can anyone help?
