What are the treatment procedures for TMJ problems??
Hey! My dad had severe pain in jaw and cheeks while chewing. He finds it difficult to open his mouth. Also, he has got headaches and pain when touching the joints. After the evaluations, the dentist found that he has TMJ disorders. His problems were minor, so the complex dental procedure was not needed. TMJ treatment included soft diet, jaw exercises, and side sleeping. He feels much better now. Let me know if this treatment plan is enough or should we go for an oral surgery for TMJ problems??

Pain relievers and anti-inflammatories. If over-the-counter pain medications aren't enough to relieve TMJ pain, your doctor or dentist may prescribe stronger pain relievers. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others), are a mainstay of treatment.
