Stuck pill sensation (Globus sensation)

Hello all,

I just wanted to post my experience with a very troubling health issue I had.

It started during a very stressful time in my life, I had to move and start a new job. The last thing I wanted to worry about was my health.

I told myself if I got it resolved I would post online, so here I am.

My issue was a vague feeling of a pill stuck in the back of my throat that would NEVER go away. For the first few days of symptoms I wasn't worried but after a week I got more concerned. I had no other symptoms i.e. weight loss, fever, night sweats, fatigue or myalgia.

The only real thing that changed in my life was that I was staying up longer because of work load and stress, I also had been taking a lot of caffeine (4-5 coffees a day).

My issue was recurrent for a month. During this time I tried researching more into the subject but couldn't understand what was going on. Finally I stumbled across a article about a person who had the same symptoms as me and they had described the problem as being due to Globus sensation. I looked up the causes and narrowed mine down to my caffeine intake and reflux. I cut my coffee consumption down and the problem went away in a week. I wish I had seen a post regarding this when I had my issue but I couldn't find one very easily so I wanted to post this to raise awareness.

P.s. There are many other causes of globes which I suggest you look into if this is a problem you have.

Re: Stuck pill sensation (Globus sensation)

Thank you for posting this as I have had this same issue recently - it feels like something is stuck at the back of my throat! I too was having a stressful time on top of suffering from chronic illness and saw an article about Globus Sensationtoo! I've also tried cutting caffeine down and trying to relax and destress and it seems to be working!
I thought I was losing my mind thank goodness I'm not and someone else is also having the same issue.... thanks for posting!

Its weird because one day i can take no energy drinks or coffee and sleep like a baby and other times, take lots of drinks and not sleep at all. To sleep is based on what the mind does and not the body. Caffeine helps the body not necessarily the mind. I think it depends on the coffee drunk and the source of caffeine taken.
