Re: what is type 2 diabetes?
The most common form of diabetes is called type 2, or non-insulin-dependent diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy.
Type 2 diabetes, your body does not make or use insulin well. It can develop type 2 diabetes at any age, even during childhood. However, this type of diabetes occurs most often in middle-aged and older people. Type 2 is the most common type of diabetes. There is a clear link between type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure (hypertension) and/or disordered levels of fats (cholesterol) in the blood. Treatment focuses on diet and exercise. If blood sugar levels are still high, oral medications are used to help the body use its own insulin more efficiently.

We can assume that the higher the type, the more dangerous the condition is.
