New by looking for advice.

Hi, my name is John and I'm 39. I have just been diagnosed with a very over active bladder. I have had this problem since being involved in a car accident in 1998. I have only recently been to see the doctor after my wife kept nagging me to go and he referred me to a urologist. Several appointments later and a flexi cystoscopy and urodynamics which they couldnt even turn the pump on to fill my bladder before it went into spasm and I've been dianosed with OAB. I now have a indwelling catheter for 6 weeks and leg bag until I get my appointment through to go and have Botox injections in my bladder and a supra pubic catheter at the same time. I just wanted to chat to people who are going through the same sort of thing.

Hi and thankyou, yeah not too bad, I'm taking betmiga tablets at the moment which aren't working and I've just got over my second urine infection since I've had the catheter. Just waiting for a letter to come in the post so I can try the Botox.

So I had a call today from the hospital with a date for my pre op and operation. But first I have to go and see the Incontinence nurses first to learn how to self catheterise.

Re: New by looking for advice.

So had my bladder botox operation today. Went down to the operating theatre at 9.50, was back out in recovery and back on the ward by 11.10. Had a drink and something to eat and was out and home by 13.30. So far I have only had a couple of small leaks and abit of urgency but has already made a massive difference. Let's hope it keeps going that way and doesn't go the other way so I have to self catheterise !!!
