Frequent bladder infections

Postby a_mchenry on Tue Nov 13, 2018 12:01 pm

I am a male, 61,T1 on Novorapid and Lantus. In March this year I had signicant blood in my urine, I was referred to urology and have had two flexible and one rigid cystoscopies. Nothing abnormal show in biopsies, but some raw bloody areas in the bladder and bleeding put down to infection.
Since then I've had regular bladder infections. The latest caused me to collapse and needed hospital admission. (Sepsis was considered). My blood sugars are really tight, HbA1c 6.4, during infection my levels rise dramatically. Is there anything else I can do to reduce infection and my reliance on antibiotics and stop future visits ti A&E?

A_McHenry - I would get a second opinion. You may have more going on than a bladder infection. Sometimes just getting another medical professional to evaluate your situation might give you answers. This might sound silly but are you drinking enough water throughout the day? ........staying away from sodas. Have tried drinking cranberry juice on a regular basis? I know I am not helping that much, but I understand your frustration of not being able to get a medical problem under control. Please keep us updated.
