Re: RA and fibromyalga
Rheumatoid arthritis causes joint swelling, stiffness, especially in the mornings, and pain rather than tender points between the joints. Fibromyalgia does cause tenderness in many areas but often the joints can hurt as well and fibromyalgia is also associated with sleep disturbance and fatigue. Some people with arthritis also have fibromyalgia as well so it can be confusing to know which pain is which. Many people also have tender points where muscles attach to bones, and often this is completely normal. If you are worried, speak to your GP, rheumatologist or specialist nurse and they should be able to help.

Hi Rainbow55,
Thanks for your post. One of the fastest and most practical ways to get on the right track can be to see a physiotherapist - they can examine, diagnose and get you moving gently. Whatever may be going on, supporting your body with the right self - management can be part of the solution. Also the more people you speak to, often the clearer you may feel about what's happening and what you feel may help.
