Terrible pain - Eileen's story & advice requested

On behalf of our guest visitor, Eileen:
After being found on the kitchen floor 8 months ago, I was informed I have Atrial Fibrillation and two leaking valves, so am taking Bisoprolol, Amiodarone and Warfarin. If they can get my INR readings to 3.0 or just above I will be having a cardioversion next Thursday. I am constantly short of breath which means my very active lifestyle has almost come to an abrupt end – ie two keep fit classes, line dancing, aerobics and walking. This means I have gained some weight and has brought back an old problem. I had an MRI about 7 years ago which showed my meniscus at the back of my right knee was showing wear and tear, I eventually got rid of the terrible pain with exercise. Unfortunately, the pain is back with a vengeance and as I am not allowed anti-inflammatories (which I don’t want to take anyway) can you suggest an alternative. I am sitting with weights on my ankle and lifting my foot, I have a ‘mini’ cycle – where you sit and just peddle, I also stand and lift my leg forwards, backwards and to the side, I am trying to do squats but the pain is so bad I am struggling, I walk ‘on the spot’ trying to lift my knees as high as possible, I also do step (the step is about 2” high).
I have never been on any medication in my life, felt fit and well, so this has come as a bit of a shock at 73 especially having just lost my husband to cancer , but not happy to be told I have to stay on this medication now for the rest of my life.
Your comments will be much appreciated.
Thank you
