Neck Pain

Hi I have been suffering with neck pain now since 2008. I have been to the doctors and they sent me to the hospital. I have had xrays done and all they says is it's down to wear & tear. It aches and it also sounds like the bones are grinding together. Some days are better than others, but the pain never really goes away. Is there anything I can do to help this?

Re: Neck Pain

Dear lynny,

Thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear about the arthritis affecting your neck. The general guideline about arthritis is to keep moving (to keep your muscles strong and supple, as they can weaken where you have arthritis) and to eat a balanced diet to keep your weight under good control.

Seeing a physiotherapist is strongly recommended as they can offer strategies for keeping you moving and problem solving. You may want to try different pillows on your bed - and sometimes the guidance is not to have your head too plumped up. But you have to find what suits you.

I'm attaching some links to our information, and do feel free to ring our free phone if you would like a chat.
