Pain management

Should I take pain killers only when I have pain or should I take them before the pain occurs?

Re: Pain management

Hello,

If your pain is predictable, for example it always happens if you do certain activities, then you should take your pain killers before the pain rather than after because then it can be easier to control. If your pain is unpredictable or if you want to try some other things rather than relying on medicines, you may find that distraction techniques or meditation can help, as can gentle exercise. There are lots of other things you can try to help yourself including improving your sleep and keeping to a healthy weight. See the links to Arthritis Action below.
