Yes, psoriatic arthritis can occur without psorasis being present, particularly in those who have relatives with the condition.

Whilst it is true that the majority of people with PsA had psorasis before their joint pain began, in some cases it can occur the other way round and joint pain can begin prior to any skin changes.
