How often should you go to your doctor to have your prostate checked when over 55 years old ?

if you have no urinary symptoms of note, there is no particular reason to have your prostate checked by your doctor. There is huge controversy over whether you should have a PSA test ( a blood test to look for risk of prostate cancer) and you will see this discussed in detail in other posts on this forum.
if you have new urinary symptoms, especially if they are causing you bother, then a check up is advisable.
if you have a family history of prostate cancer, or if you are of Afro-Caribbean origin, then a PSA test may be more useful, as you may be at higher risk of prostate cancer than other men. If in doubt - have a look at the Prostate Cancer UK website which has loads of information on this topic.
