Is Aquagenic Puritious a allergy. My daughter has just been diagnosed at StThomass hospital. Are there any new trials or research being done any time soon

Re: AP
aquagenic urticaria presents with hives (weals) and itching (pruritus) on exposure to water; it is NOT an allergy to water; water is thought to stimulate cells in the skin (mast cells) to release different substances (including histamine) which can cause itching, swelling and redness;
high dose antihistamines, montelukastet are commonly recommended; in Europe omalizumab has been used; no treatment offers complete cure though; there do not seem to be any new trials happening at the moment
