Mucous at night

I wake up chocking with large quantities of mucous almost every night at about 2am. (go to sleep at about 1130-12 pm). I am a fit, exercising 77 year old. I have had this complaint for the last 7 years starting just in the winter but now all year round. I have changed all bedding etc..and my diet is very healthy. I have seen a specialist and passed allergy tests.

I notice I seem to escape this malaise when I go abroad on holidays - usually to a warm country or simply if I can sleep on my front (difficult to do). Can anyone advise please as I lose an awful lot of sleep.

Thank you

Re: Mucous at night

Do you mean that you had negative tests (you 'passed' them?). If this is the case you might have non allergic sinusitis causing production of mucous. Nasal steroid might help, If not you should see an ENT or allergy specialist

Some patients with house dust mite allergy are better when visiting hot and dry countries. Therefore it is important to know what your skin tests showed.
