Scalp itch

Okay so I've had an itchy scalp for years none stop and I'm postitive its contagious but no doctor I see will take me seriously as symptoms are sporadic.

I experience an itchy scalp permanently in certain areas which differ daily, frequent small or sometimes bigger spots on my scalp, small itchy flat spots right side and left side of my hip, and small spots that seem to be in a hair folicle on my forearm, sometimes chest, and neck, with white heads (see picture), that don't really squeeze out, but scab over when i squeeze them and then disappear, normally dont go away for a long time unless I squeeze them. Not sure if they are related but they started happening at the same time.

The problem started from something contagious in work, everyone started itching their head, I'd move job and same thing, close family, friends, most people who i'm in close contact with.

A few people I have gotten close with have complained about a sore throat, so I have no clue whether this may be viral/bacterial and maybe that's why no doctor has a clue. There were a few occasions at the start of this where id come down with an intense flu sort of illness but the doctor didnt know what the problem was.

Re: Scalp itch

Persistent scalp itch and spots can be frustrating, especially when they’ve been ongoing for years and seem to affect those around you. The symptoms you’ve described, including itchy spots on various parts of your body and occasional flu-like illnesses, suggest a complex issue that might involve the scalp and skin. It’s important to consult with a dermatologist to help identify the cause.

It looks like you're using some kind of product on your hair which your skin does not like. Your best bet is to do a process of elimination. Try cutting out various shampoos/hair products and see how you go. Also, there could be a common denominator between your hair care products that you're allergic to. Like lanolin or something similar.

This advice may be totally obvious but it is worth suggesting. You could also buy a steroid cream to reduce the itching. Your doctor though would have to prescribe it. Unfortunately this means seeing your doctor OR sending a photo of your itchy scalp to their appointment website and seeing if a doctor can prescribe a steroid cream that way.* This is how I got my steroid cream prescribed.

*Where I live the Medical Centre now uses a modern appointment system. You can have repeat prescriptions and new prescriptions issued within a day or two of requesting it online on on your smart phone, rather than having to physically go in and see your doctor every time. You can upload photos to help the doctor see the exact problem.

Tingling scalp can be brought about by various circumstances, including dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis and psoriasis. Sedated shampoos can be utilized to treat dandruff and assuage bothersome scalp.
