Wearing uniform during hot weather.

Hi. I work as a Carer in the community and our uniforms are of quite heavy material. Working today i found myself overheating and my eczema very itchy. My boss has kindly said i can wear "comfortable" clothes while the weather is this hot but i am asking if companies have a right to refuse a request this despite asking on medical grounds?

Re: Wearing uniform during hot weather.

Good question Pebbles! Whilst I'm sure most employers would be reasonable like yours, I'm not sure on the official rules. I imagine with a doctors note you would be able to wear clothes that don't aggravate eczema.

You might be interested in our eczema clinic opening in July. You can log on and ask questions to our Consultant Dermatologists.
