Himalayan Balsam - potential treatment for dermatitis?

I wish to see if anyone has heard of research into the possible healing effects of the non-native plant: Himalayan Balsam? A few years ago when the dermatitis on my hands was at a zenith, I was clearing this plant in my role as a National Trust volunteer. The day after, my hands were greatly improved with the redness and blistering almost totally absent. Is this an untapped natural cure?
